 iBook-User Reports:

Revision B. iBook in the Works !

According to our sources a Revision B. iBook is scheduled to come out after Mac World Expo San Francisco sometime after mid-January 2000, well after the PowerBook lineup is out and (hopefully) shipping in quantity to customers. Fulfilling Steve Jobs a surprise every 90 days goal.

Our source who talked to an Apple rep. said that DVD would have shipped with the new iBook's, but one issue was that the CD/DVD tray was a 1/4" too wide for the opening in the iBook casing and that in the next version they would, now go with the slot-loading unit as used in the new iMac's.

Our source continued to state that Apple was working on offering 2 configurations of the iBook, consisting of a speed bumped Low-end and new Midrange model. (I say Midrange because they will be priced hundreds of dollars below the PowerBook lineup.) The iBook most likely come in 333 MHz and a 366 MHz models. The low-end model colors would remain Blueberry and Tangerine and the Higher end unit would come in Graphite like the iMac DV Special Edition ! He also said that at least one version would come with a Firewire port and that a built in Mic was not likely.

Apple is expected to be the first to ship with ATI's new Rage 128 Mobility for laptops and is definitely in store.
