"Easy Book "by Sunburst on School's iBook !

I just thought I would drop you a line. I haven't seen too many notes about the kids reaction to the iBook. I am a resource specialist in an alternative high school and I bought a Tangerine iBook to use with the students. They love it. We are using it to write and illustrate stories using the Easy Book program and I have been creating electronic portfolios of their work using hyperstudio.
They think it is way cool and look forward to using it. At this point I am looking for anything that will motivate my students and the iBook does just that. I do plan to get the airport but for my own personal use. I won't be using it at school but we are in the Digitial High School program so you never know. The Easy Book program is made by Sunburst and is relatively inexpensive. I think I paid about $15 for it through the Scholastic book orders. It has a variety of clip art you can use or you can import your own pictures to use. We haven't played with this function much yet. You can also have the program read the book out loud and the students really enjoy some of the funky voices on the Macintosh.
I really recommend this program highly.

* Easy Book can be ordered by Teachers thru Scholastic Books. If this program is generally available let us know !

Tax free iBooks at Heathrow Airport !

I don't know if you are interested in letting your readers know, but while killing time before my flight at Heathrow Terminal One, I spotted a blue iBook on sale at Dixons, a UK-based electronics chain. The price of 1,024.99 pounds was tax free, as the store pays the tax for you, therefore removing any fear that you could exceed your duty-free allowance when travelling in Europe or further afield. This represents a saving of roughly 230 pounds, and for anyone with the opportunity to take advantage of the offer, it makes the iBook an extremely competitively priced piece of kit, and almost brings the cost in line with the US price!

* Well if anyone happens to be flying into Heathrow Airport or Lives in the U.K. stop by and shave off some pounds..... from the price that is ; )

AppleWorks Updater on OS 9 Installer CD !

MacOS9 on my iBook...

Yes, I've installed MacOS9 on my iBook since I got it for $20. from Apple. It's faultless so far. I have 128mb RAM installed. No problems. Oh, yes. I found out later AppleWorks won't run with 9.

There's a version up dater on the installer CD (hidden in folders). Also, No note Pad in the Apple Menu items (I use it).

Mike Kaufmann Santa Cruz, CA

* Mike I understand that the Note Pad is Hidden as well, check it out! BTW Mike I suggest you try out New NOTEPAD 2 ! by Hiroki Hisaura.

OS 9 Now Included in New iBook's !

I received my ibook ..... and it indeed came with os9.
However, since my last computer was an apple IIe, I have no idea what the differences are between this version and the last!

From my lousy pc workstation at work,

David Gorgos

Buyer TLA Video

* David, the Differences are Huge ! No really, it's too Numerous to list in even One book !

In case you don't already know, they are shipping ibooks with OS9 now. I just got mine from Outpost.com on Monday with OS9 installed.

Cheers, John Bice

One Blue One Tangerine!

I ordered two iBooks from the Apple store Oct. 2nd, was told there was a 45 day ship time. Apple shipped them as stated, and along with them, one blue one tang, I ordered an airport station and cards. Set them all up with my iMac (333mhz.) through the ethernet port for it, and went to surfing! I'm totaly impressed at the ease of set-up and use.

I only had one hic-up, when I was installing a old lower slot 32 meg chip from my iMac, I had it apart (iBook) and got busy with something else, when I got back to the iBook it wouldn't boot or so I thought....
I depressed the numlock key and it lit up, so I figured it was asleep.
But wouldn't wake up. I gave up and figured to take it in to the local Apple shop, As I checked again the next day, it booted fine and has worked flawlessly ever since.

Thanks, John Friemering
